Freddy Fuentes’s passion is living the life of Christ in the world of teaching and learning. He has over 22 years of experience in public schools, mostly in the Northeast. Since he was 15, his life has been dedicated to helping young people understand themselves, their families and their relationship with God. Being outdoors is one of his greatest joys.
Freddy Fuentes was born in New York City and raised in Puerto Rico since he was nine years old. He attended Antillean College (now Antillean University) and graduated with a degree in secondary education and mathematics. In addition, he earned a concentration in theology and completed his master’s degree at the University of Hartford in math education. He obtained his ED.D. from the University of Hartford in Educational Leadership. His dissertation concerns the use of emotional intelligence (EI) in the urban mathematics classroom.
Freddy’s educational experience is comprehensive since he has been a teacher and an administrator at all levels--elementary, middle and high school in both public and church schools. He has been at Southern Adventist University since August of 2008. Freddy has been married to his wife, Betty, for over 30 years and has three children, Alfredo, Abner and Tania. He enjoys playing sports, especially softball, basketball and football. He loves to be involved in church creating new ministries and participating in evangelism.
