Dr. Ruth Williams joined the faculty at Southern Adventist University in 2000.
A firm believer in the Seventh-day Adventist educational system, Dr. Williams attended and graduated from Caribbean Union College, Oakwood College (now Oakwood University), and Andrews University. She earned a BA degree in psychology and English (summa cum laude), and a master’s degree in educational psychology and counseling.
An offered fellowship to study at the University of Minnesota was accepted, and Dr. Williams earned a doctorate in educational psychology specializing in learning and cognition while pursuing a supporting area in child psychology.
Dr. Williams is interested in teaching and research. Specifically, she is committed to finding ways to increase motivation and achievement of students, especially women and minorities, in the field of mathematics.
An intensely private individual, Dr. Williams believes that the best biographies written are those the students read as they come in daily, personal contact with their teachers. Dr. Williams enjoys the opportunity of helping her students fall in love with learning as she has.
