About

This is a rare collection of artifacts, signed copies, first editions, and Twain-related items. Duane Bietz, cardiac surgeon and brother of the former university president, along with his wife, Eunice, chose to donate the several-hundred-piece collection to Southern’s library because they wanted to increase the library’s resources. The collection strengthens the library by adding uniqueness and provides a wonderful opportunity for students to research Mark Twain and his life works.

A Brief History

Duane and Eunice Bietz donated this collection to McKee Library in 2009. Additions to this collection have been made every year since then by the donors.
