Biography

Elaine Janzen is a graduate of the Teacher Education program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance and a Master of Arts degree in Music, both from Andrews University.

While a student at Andrews, Janzen was also an active instructor, maintaining a studio of 15-20 students. Following her graduation from Andrews, she joined the faculty of Canadian Union College, where she taught theory, piano, elementary classroom music, and accompanied choirs. Following her years at CUC, she had an active home studio of piano students, which she maintained for twenty years.

She joined the adjunct music faculty at Southern in 1987, and teaches piano in both individual and group settings.

An active performer, Janzen plays cello in Southern’s Symphony Orchestra and sings in the Collegedale Master Chorale, both since 1994. For ten years, she was the organist at the McDonald Road Seventh-day Adventist Church.
