Chaplain's Office

Meet the Staff

Welcome to our Campus Ministries Team.  Our vision is Jesus:  obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus!  It is our privilege to serve you!  We invite you to come and join one of the many ministries available, and to grow in Jesus.

Brennon
Ever since graduating from Southern back in the day, it has been my dream to come back to this campus to serve as Chaplain---and for the past 9 years, I’ve been living the dream. My beautiful wife, Brandy, and I have the incredible blessing of raising our 4-yr old son, Jax and our 2-yr old daughter, Scarlett—the unquestioned joy of our lives! As an avid Miami Dolphin fan, I love Sunday afternoons from September through February (hope springs eternal). Early morning basketball, football, piano, violin, guitar, and hanging out with students--these are just a few of my favorite things. And let us not forget about the fine art of chowing down @ Thai Smile and Lupi's Pizza. As Chaplain, I have the privilege of working with a fantastic ministry team whose entire purpose for existence is to serve you! Welcome to Southern!

— Brennon Kirstein - Chaplain

Anna
My subtle accent should warn you, I’m not from around here. As a Minnesota native, I love snow. Thus, the warmer climate is something I’m adjusting to, but the generous southern hospitality has embraced me with ease. I am extremely passionate about ministry because of the opportunity to journey alongside people as they discover an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. In my years of pastoral ministry, my greatest joy has been to empower young adults as authentic and courageous disciples and as active leaders within the Seventh-day Adventist church. Along with the exciting challenges within ministry, I love spending Sunday’s cheering for the MN Vikings (hopefully fan here) and watching NASCAR, exploring new local restaurants and adventures, traveling around the world, and spending time with friends and family. I dream of writing a book, going bungee jumping (though I hate heights), learning how to sail, and accomplishing the other 85 things on my bucket list. I hope you’ll take a moment to stop by my office and share your passions with me!

— Anna Romuald - Associate Chaplain

Andrew

Ever since I graduated Southern, I knew one day I’d come back as a Chaplain! Granted that was the day after I graduated this past May. I’ve just finished my degrees in health science, social work, and religion, which have allowed me to follow my passion to lead others into an authentic relationship with Jesus. I’m a west coast boy who loves nothing more than soaking up the sun in some sort of adventure involving water! I enjoy reading, having deep discussions about life, and watching movies. I’m very passionate about life and what I believe in and nothing brings more joy than to see others living out their passions as well.

Gayle

Gayle Moore has a passion for Student Missions and has worked on and off as the Student Missions Coordinator since 2007. She is happy to be back in the department again. She and her husband, Gary love to travel the world and enjoy time with their 3 grown children and 3 “adorable” grandchildren.

Melissa

I am a proud Southern alumni!  I graduated in 2009 with a bachelors in nonprofit administration and development and in 2013 with my masters in administration, emphasis in social work.  I worked at Southern from 2009-2013 directing the Christian Service Program.  I am excited to have joined the Campus Ministries team this year, doing my dream job of discipling students and nurturing a passion for service.
