Tips for Students

What is Meet the Firms and Graduate Schools?
Meet the Firms and Graduate Schools is a career fair that provides the opportunity for you to meet people who are currently working in your field as well as representatives from graduate schools across the nation. Meet the Firms and Graduate Schools is designed to bring both student and recruiter to the same location, provide a networking opportunity and hopefully, generate a win-win outcome. These recruiters and graduate school representatives can share valuable information about your career field, as well as opportunities for internships, full-time employment, and opportunities to pursue a graduate degree. Come visit and engage!

When is the event?
The event is held in October and in February. Check the website for information on the next event.

Where is the event held?
Meet the Firms is held Iles P.E. Center, located on the campus of Southern Adventist University. Directions and map are available.

Who can participate?
Any student or alum of Southern Adventist University is welcome to attend Meet the Firms and talk to representatives from the different firms and graduate schools. Since it is sponsored by the Schools of Business, Journalism and Communication, Nursing, Social Work, the Biology Department, Career Services and Alumni Relations, we can't guarantee there will be firms from areas of interest to you. However, if you'd like to have a particular firm represented, please let your academic department/school know. They can contact the committee for assistance, and we'll be happy to send them an invitation.

To be prepared before the event, you need research the participating firms listed on this site, update your resumé and dress in business attire.

To prepare for this event, you may wish to register for Preparing to Meet the Firms, BUAD 412, NURS 412, and/or SOCI 412 under any of these course numbers even if you're a major in another discipline. The School of Journalism and Communication offers a similar class called Portfolio and Careers, COMM 415.
