Randy Craven’s career in art started early, when at age three he began drawing his own versions of the cartoon characters he saw on television. His love of art grew as he did, leading eventually to a degree program at the University of Missouri—Kansas City, where he earned a bachelor of arts in studio art, graduating in 1994.

Following college, Randy accepted employment as a graphic designer in the Media Department of the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. There, while fulfilling his passion for art, he discovered that he also had a passion to teach. To pursue this he relocated to study at Southern Adventist University, graduating in 1999 with a master of science in education. In March 2000, Randy was able to combine his two great passions when he was asked to join the faculty of the School of Visual Arts and Design at Southern.
When not creating art or teaching, Randy finds great enjoyment in outdoor activities, including canoeing, hiking, and camping, where he can take in the beauty of nature to relax, rejuvenate, and find inspiration.
