Tara D. Hargrove joined the faculty at Southern Adventist University’s School of Journalism
and Communication as Assistant Professor in 2009. After completing her undergraduate
degree in Speech Communication at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado
Mrs. Hargrove went on to get her Master’s degree in Communication Studies and a Graduate
Certificate in Women’s Studies. At CSU she taught Introduction to Public Speaking
and assisted in Intercultural Communication, Communication and Popular Culture, Women
and Communication, and Rhetoric and Argumentation. She was also the Service-Learning
Coordinator for Rhetoric and Argumentation class and has been a guest lecturer for
Psychology of Gender.
Mrs. Hargrove currently teaches Introduction to Public Speaking, Film Evaluation,
and Persuasion and Propaganda. She has also enjoyed teaching Southern Connections
and Intercultural Communication. She is a member of the National Communication Association,
the Southern States Communication Association and the Organization for Research on
Women and Communication. She enjoys research and writing for conferences and has presented
a number of competitively selected papers as an undergraduate, graduate and now as
Associate Professor.
