An Alumnus of Southern Adventist University, 1982, Dr. Hyder joined the faculty of
Southern Adventist Universities School of Business and Management as an associate
professor and Dean in 2013. Dr. Hyder has served in higher education as Vice President
for Finance and an associate professor at Atlantic Union College, where he was honored
by the student association for excellence in service in 1996, by the board of trustees
for heroic efforts and astute management of finances in 1997, and for outstanding
dedication by the senior class of 1998. He also served the Seventh-day Adventist Church
as a General Conference Auditor for over twenty years. . He has served as an elected
official on the Town of Lancaster Finance Committee and on the Board of Trustees of
the Atlantic Union Conference Association and The Board of Trustees of the Weidner
Foundation. Prior to coming to Southern, he was Regional Manager of the Southern Region
of the General Conference Auditing Service.
Dr. Hyder holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Adventist University, a master’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland University College and a Juris Doctorate degree from Emory University. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Beta Delta. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Trust Administrator. He is currently the Vice President of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, southern region. He teaches business law and is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site coordinator for Southern Adventist University.
Hobbies include reading, fishing, boating, touring castles, camping and hiking. He and his wife Lisa have two teenage children, Andrew and Benjamin.
