Leon Weeks, assistant professor of business and management, has been a member of the
faculty since Fall 2005. Prior to teaching full time at Southern, Professor Weeks
served as an audit supervisor for a regional accounting firm and served as controller
for an eleven-office physician practice. Professor Weeks is a licensed Tennessee Certified
Public Accountant and has maintained an active Certified Public Accounting firm license
for the past fifteen years. His broad experience and background allows him to share
real examples of business management practices in the classroom.
Professor Weeks earned a BS in Religion from Southern Missionary College (now Southern Adventist University), an M.BA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and is a doctoral candidate in management specializing in entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Courses taught by Professor Weeks include Principles of Entrepreneurship, Principles of Management, Small Business Management, Organizational Behavior, Personal Finance and Business Spreadsheets. He enjoys talking with students and has a special interest in helping students develop their creative ideas with the concept of Christian entrepreneurship and Christ-centered business growth. He has lectured on small business management, income taxes, business spreadsheets and has taught continuing education for CPAs in the area of data extraction and analysis.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Academy of Management, and the Family Firms Institute, and is a former member of the board of directors of Hospice of Chattanooga.
Professor Weeks and his wife Debbie have one son and two daughters.
