“I see my job as a liaison for students from their undergrad work to their future
profession,” says Renita Moore, general studies (undecided) student adviser. Renita’s
primary role as general studies adviser is to guide students toward the classes that
will benefit them as they prepare for their future as professionals in their chosen
field. Renita’s passion for advising extends throughout campus. As well as advising
general studies majors, Renita is the coordinator of the first year and retention
program on campus.
Renita graduated from Southern in 1994 with a BS in social work and in 2007 earned her master's degree in school counseling here as well.
Renita has three boys that keep her busy running around from gymnastics, to ballgames, and to any cultural events that come to the area. Renita is originally from Florida and is an alumnus of Forest Lake Academy. Renita and her family enjoy visiting Florida whenever they can.
Renita’s passion for advising and for helping students to succeed academically, spiritually, and socially is evident when you walk into her office. Her cheerful and pleasant disposition is an asset to students. Renita states: “Making professional choices is not easy, and anything I can do to assist is my pleasure.”
