Southern Adventist University welcomes Rachel Williams-Smith, PhD, as the new dean of the School of Journalism and Communication. Williams-Smith comes to Southern from Andrews University, where she served for four years—most recently as graduate program director of the Communication Department. She has 19 years of teaching experience and eight years of overlapping management experience at the university level.
As Southern Adventist University celebrates 125 years of training young people, it is remarkable to see how God has led. Much has changed since the institution was established in 1892, but its core values of placing God first, nurturing students, and serving others have never wavered. The dedication, sacrifice, and vision that mark Southern’s beginnings have also remained constant.
After completing a 10-day tour to Puerto Rico over spring break, the members of Southern’s Symphony Orchestra returned with numerous new friends and memories. During the span of nine days, the orchestra performed nine concerts at various Seventh-day Adventist churches and schools.
