Beyond the Typical Phone-a-thon

The Advancement Call Center was dedicated in 2005 to build relationships between current students and the thousands of Southern alumni and friends that are a part of our extended campus family. Our student callers keep alumni connected and involved with Southern by sharing about academic news, campus events, and many new and exciting projects.

Many people think of a phonathon as just a call for money, but the first goal of the callers is to have a meaningful conversation with as many people as possible. Both the students and the alumni benefit from the friendships that are created over the phone talking about common interests, fields of study, faith, and life at Southern.

A Diverse Team and Diverse Conversations

We have a team of 20-25 student callers that come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and majors. During conversations, the student callers find interest in a broad range of foundational support for Southern. Through the Call Center, many lifelong friendships have developed.
