Southern Adventist University is hosting a Celebration of Life service for K.R. and Jeanne Davis, who devoted a combined 90 years to service to Southern students.
The Celebration of Life Service, to be held at the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church at 4 p.m. on April 19, will include pictures, video, and musical selections from the Wedgewood Trio and on-campus groups. The service will be streamed live on the Web.
K.R. Davis (March 4, 1921-January 16, 2008) held many positions at Southern, including dean of men, recruiter, and director of counseling. He was also a long-time sponsor for the Student Association and was well-known for his carpentry skills, which can be seen in nearly every corner of campus. After retirement, he continued as assistant to the president until shortly before his death.
Jeanne Davis (August 30, 1923-February 9, 2001) among other things, served as secretary to four presidents, taught secretarial classes, and was the first manager of the Campus Kitchen. After retiring, she continued to work part time as a switchboard operator and administrative assistant for Southern.
