A native of Brazil, Cristy Pratt joined the faculty at Southern Adventist University’s School of Education and Psychology in the fall of 2013. Engaging students is a passion for Mrs. Pratt and she truly enjoys getting to know the students in and outside of the classroom environment. As a former alumni of Southern’s psychology program, she is familiar with the program from a student’s perspective and now a faculty perspective.
Mrs. Pratt holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern Adventist University and a master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Walden University. Prior to joining Southern full time, Mrs. Pratt was adjunct for three years along with a full time job utilizing her I/O degree by working for seven years for the City of Collegedale as their Human Resources Manager.
As well as teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Pratt is the coordinator for the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. She is also the co-sponsor of the Brazilian Club on campus. Professional affiliations include the American Psychological Association, Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Society for Human Resource Management, and the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Mrs. Pratt and her husband, Shawn, like to travel and have visited 12 countries/islands so far. They love to take their two boxer dogs out and explore the various recreational opportunities that Chattanooga has to offer. They enjoy competing in charity races, mud runs, and obstacle course challenges.
