SoapEvents

SOAP stands for Southern Outdoor Adventure Programming and is an organization that provides the students and employees of Southern Adventist University with outdoor recreation and adventure opportunities. SOAP is much like an outdoor-adventure intramural program. We offer a wide variety of exciting learning adventures with the opportunity for you to meet new friends, learn new skills, and have fun in a safe environment. You can find a list of current SOAP trips below. All trips are FREE unless otherwise specified.                                 

For more information and to sign up for trips please email soap@southern.edu and include your student ID number. You must be a current Southern Adventist University student taking at LEAST 6 hours of undergraduate credit. YOU CAN ONLY SIGN YOURSELF UP; your friends must sign themselves up. One trip sign-up per email. It isn't necessary to sign up for Open Cave, just show up any time between 11 AM - 3 PM.

February 1
Outdoor Church: Caving, 9 AM - 6 PM, Meet at the OEC. Bring friends or meet new ones while caving. Location is TBD.                                                                
February 2 
Open Cave: 11 AM - 3 PM, Meet at the Student Park Cave, helmets and headlamps provided. Bring your friends and explore the student park cave.                                                
February 16 
Rock Climbing or Caving Trip: 9 AM - 6 PM, Meet at the OEC. Gear provided. Come rock climb or cave at one of Chattanooga's many climbing spots or caves. Location is TBD.
   
February 22
14th Annual Cardboard Boat Race. Sign up in advance as coed teams of 4 and include your names, team name, and student ID numbers. Prizes of $150 will be given for most laps (up to 10), fastest lap, best boat design, and for diving in and collecting coins. Begins at 7:30 PM at Iles Gym.                                                                     
February 23
Southern 6K Trail Race. Come run or walk this FREE trail race on the Biology trails. Registration begins at noon in the Hickman Science Center and the race starts at 2 PM. Prizes include men and women's categories: $100 for 1st place, $75 for second, and $50 for third place. The first Southern student will also receive $100.                                                      
March 1
Open Cave: 11 AM - 3 PM, Meet at the Student Park Cave, helmets and headlamps provided. Bring your friends and explore the student park cave.                                                 
March 7 
Outdoor Church: Rock Climbing, 9 AM - 6 PM, Meet at the OEC. Enjoy the Sabbath outdoors while rock climbing with friends. Location is TBD.        
March 13 - 22
Florida Spring Break Canoe Trip. Paddle 105 miles down the Santa Fe and Suwanee Rivers to the Gulf of Mexico to spend a day on a private island on the beach. $325 includes food, gear, and transportation.                                 
March 27 - 28
Island Camping at Parksville Lake: 3 PM Friday - about 5 PM Saturday, Meet at the OEC, $25, food and gear provided. Enjoy a night under the stars after canoeing out to an island.                                           
April 4
Outdoor Church: Hiwassee Rafting, 10 AM - 7 PM, Meet at Wright Hall steps. Enjoy the Sabbath outdoors while rafting with friends.                                        
April 5
Open Cave: 11 AM - 3 PM, Meet at the Student Park Cave, helmets and headlamps provided. Bring your friends and explore the student park cave.

Whitewater Rafting: Ocoee River, 9 AM - 5 PM, Meet at Wright Hall steps. Come for an epic adventure rafting the amazing Ocoee River.

Bat Vespers at Nickajack Lake: 7 PM - 11 PM, Meet at Wright Hall steps. Canoe out on a lake to watch the bats fly out at dusk.
