About Student Activities
For science students in the Hickman Science Center, nursing students in Florida Hospital
Hall, art majors in Brock Hall, and everyone in between, Southern's schools and departments have professional and academic
clubs that can help you get a foot in the door. Network with area professionals, meet
other students on your academic track, and even get involved with organizations in
the community.
If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, clubs like the Kayaking Club, Southern Striders, and the Physical Education and Sports Studies Club will get you running, camping, rafting, and more. But you don’t have to join these clubs to join in the fun. The Southern Outdoor Adventure Program (SOAP) hosts a number of events throughout the year for all levels of experience.
And for those wanting to celebrate their heritage, the Asian Club, the Latin American
Club, the African Student Union, and the Black Christian Union offer great ways to
make connections. Get involved with other students and celebrate the diversity that
makes Southern unique. Each of these clubs hosts a cultural night to showcase food,
music, history, and traditions.
Whatever activities you choose to get involved in will help make your college experience unforgettable. If you would like to add to the list of activities available to students, talk with Kari Shultz, director of Student Life and Activities, in the Student Center.
