School of Visual Art & Design
Marc Boyson is an Associate Professor of Fine Art at the School of Visual Art & Design, Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. He reveals the cartographic trace through his commutes by using memory, invention, and by GPS records. Through works on paper, projection, murals, sound and ceramics he reveals the sublime in the banal of his movement through space. Marc received Best in Show award at the AVA Juried Members Exhibition at the Association for Visual Arts, Chattanooga, TN. He had a solo show There to Here… Reprise at John C Williams Gallery, Collegedale TN. He presented at FATE 2015 National Conference: Tectonic Shifts Foundations: Bricks, Concrete, Stones, Wood ... Your Choice. Boyson graduated with a MFA in Studio Art: Ceramic in 2013 from the University of the Art in Philadelphia, PA.
He taught at Spring Valley Academy first through twelfth grade art for seven years before joining Southern’s School of Visual Art and Design in the fall of 2011. He is the Fine Art Coordinator, instructs 2-D and 3-D Foundations courses, Printmaking and Studio Art courses. He is a member of Association for Visual Arts, College Art Association, Foundations in Art: Theory and Education, SGC International, and National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts.
Marc is married to Bonnie Boyson and they have three children, Max, Finn, and Orlagh. The family enjoys art museums, bicycling, kayaking, hiking and exploring.
