School of Business
Mark G. Guild has taught at Southern Adventist University since the Fall of 2015. Prior to coming to Southern, Professor Guild served for over eighteen years in various levels of management for three Fortune 500 companies and his own manufacturing company, which he continues to oversee. He has served as a Business Development Manager (Strategy; Mergers & Acquisitions), Director of Marketing and Product Development, and President & General Manager. His background in various industries and job responsibilities allows him to bring a rich portfolio of experiences to the classroom.
Professor Guild earned a BA in French from Andrews University; an MA in Religious Education from Andrews University; and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management. He also studied abroad through the Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) program in France and Austria. Additionally, he has completed numerous executive education courses in management, leadership, and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Guild is also certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Professor Guild teaches marketing, management, and entrepreneurship courses in the School of Business, including Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Strategy, Survey of Economics, and Introduction to Business. Additionally, he leads the School of Business European Study Tour, which takes place on even numbered years. In all his interactions with students, he desires to inspire them to integrate their God-given mission with their business careers.
Professor Guild is a past member of the School of Business Advisory Board. He also provides consultation to business start-ups, and is an occasional presenter at Outpost Centers International (OCI) leadership conventions.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Guild’s interests include: Domestic and International travel (23 countries and counting); endurance sports; study of Biblical prophecy; and swimming and boating with his family.
Mr. Guild and his wife Chana (a CPA with prior work experience at Ernst & Young and Plante & Moran), reside near Southern with their five children.
