Dr. Jud Lake, professor of preaching and Adventist studies, became a Seventh-day Adventist
during a Kenneth Cox evangelistic meeting during his sophomore year in high school.
The next two years he attended Bass Memorial Academy and felt the call to be a minister.
He received his bachelor of arts in theology from Southern Missionary College (now
Southern Adventist University) in 1982 and the master of divinity degree from Andrews
University in 1986. Dr. Lake then spent ten years pastoring in the Gulf States Conference
and two years as youth pastor/Bible teacher at Broadview Academy in the Chicago area.
Since 1997 he has been teaching at Southern.
In 1994 Dr. Lake earned the doctor of ministry degree (D.Min.) from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi where he specialized in time management. In 2003 he earned the doctor of theology degree (Th.D.) in practical theology from the University of South Africa, where he specialized in preaching.
