School of Nursing
Christy Showalter joined the faculty in the School of Nursing in 2008. Born and raised
in the Chattanooga area, Christy is truly at home in the Tennessee Valley. After graduating
with her AS in nursing at Southern Adventist University in 1993, Christy began working
at Erlanger Medical Center and has continued to work there in medical/surgical and
critical care areas since. She has a passion for critical care in particular and currently
works on a PRN basis in the adult critical care areas at Erlanger. In addition to
staff nursing, Christy has worked as a clinical lab assistant for the School of Nursing,
sharing her experience and passion for patient care with AS nursing students.
Christy completed her undergraduate studies at Southern Adventist University in 2003 and returned to Southern in 2006 to pursue graduate studies. She now holds a MS in nursing education, with an emphasis in adult health.
Christy loves nursing, loves to teach and believes firmly in Christian education! She believes that Southern Adventist University is a wonderful place to begin one’s quest to be a servant of humanity and a follower of Christ!
