Events

With so much to do on and off campus, you might find it hard at times to choose what to attend. But not to worry! There are numerous activities and if you can't narrow it down to just one, ask friends to help you.  Either way, if you stick to only attending a few or all of them, Southern events help to make the school year amazing.
All-Night Softball
A Southern tradition for more than 30 years, All-Night Softball is an annual tournament where the university’s intramural softball teams skip sleep to battle it out on the fields. Students aren’t the only ones who participate; Southern faculty and staff are also known to put up a good fight for the championship title.
Cardboard Boat Events
A chance for students to use their creative side building cardboard boats and competing to see who can out-float the rest.
Christmas Celebration

christmas

We invite you to celebrate the Christmas season with students and community members on Tuesday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at Iles P.E. Center.

You and your family and friends will be serenaded with live Christmas music while enjoying refreshments before sitting down to a delightful performance by Danú, an Irish folk band, presenting “An Emerald Isle Christmas.”

Ring in this Christmas season by joining Southern for this unique holiday experience.

Student Organization Events

Student Organizations have the opportunity to showcase themselves through cultural decorations, costumes, and movements.

  • LAC Night
  • BCU Night
  • Asian Night
Dusk 'til Dawn
A 12-hour overnight adventure race, this action-packed event attracts teams of students every spring. Since 2007, the race has included activities such as running, zip lining, caving, rock climbing, and even mental challenges that require teamwork.
Saturday Night Events
Couple At Event

Saturday nights are traditionally a time for fun group activities here on campus. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our goal is to continue providing fun activities that follow health and safety best practices: smaller group sizes, less interactive, no consumption of food as a group, and held outdoors whenever possible. Details are provided on a weekly basis in The Weekender, which is emailed to all students and employees.
Sonrise Resurrection Pageant

Every spring, the story of Easter comes to life with an interactive pageant that features the final days of Christ’s life. Students, employees, and hundreds of visitors from the community experience all the tastes, sights, and sounds of Jerusalem as they walk through scenes spanning from Jesus’ triumphal entry into the city to His crucifixion and resurrection.

Then, everyone digs into a delicious strawberry treat at the end!

Thanksgiving Dinner
