Campaign for Health and Healing

The Campaign for Health and Healing was a $17.5 million project to build the Hulsey Wellness Center and Florida Hospital Hall. We are thankful with God and over 900 donors that gave to complete this campaign on Feb 11, 2011.

Hulsey Wellness Center

Phase III Grand Opening, October 2008:

The faculty in the School of P.E., Health, and Wellness believe that a healthy lifestyle is achieved through the integration of physical, mental, and spiritual aspects.

Through seminars, exercise facilities, classes, and dedicated staff, the Hulsey Wellness Center, which opened in October 2008, is preparing students, staff, and community members for both this life and the next.

While the facilities are offered primarily to Southern students and staff, the community can benefit from services such as:

  • health seminars
  • cooking classes
  • aerobic classes
  • massage therapy
  • water aerobics classes
  • children's swimming lessons
  • child care
  • GymKids (children's gymnastics program)

Phase I, Completed Fall 2007:

The completion of the new the Gym-Masters facility in 2007 provides an exclusive area for gymnastics students to practice. The 12,000-square-foot floor is designed so that the top surfaces of the in-ground tumble tramps, trampoline, rod floor, and spring floor are on a level plane—minimizing the risk of injury as the athletes hone new skills.

Florida Hospital Hall

 Grand Opening: January 8, 2011

The School of Nursing students, faculty and staff took possesion of the building Winter semester 2011. "We are so excited to be in our new home and for the blessings God has granted through the gifts from many of our constituents at Southern."

This three-story, 32,000-square-foot facility (more than twice the size of Herin Hall) has five new classrooms ranging in size from a 25-seat room to a 105-seat amphitheater. We are exited about the new skills labs, simulation men our students are using and the learning resource center that will continue to equip Southern's nursing students to serve God in their community.

The naming of this building is a commemoration of a historic relationship and the celebration of a new strategic alliance with Florida Hospital, one of the nation’s leading hospitals and the busiest, treating more than 1-million patients annually throughout central Florida.

Florida Hospital Hall is located between the Garden of Prayer and Daniells Hall—where Jones Hall stood until the mid-'80s.

Ground was broken for Florida Hospital Hall on December 2, 2007.
