Story

Donald Dick, retired professor of journalism and communications at Southern for 37 years, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.  Besides teaching, Dr. Dick was involved in directing stage productions on campus such as Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Annie, and the Sound of Music.  He coordinated satellite radio broadcasts for several international SDA conferences.  He was an active member of the local Kiwanis Club for 30 years.  He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Linda Gustad, '81, Valerie Hunt, '85; son, David, attended; and several grandchildren.

 

A service celebrating Dr. Dick's life is being planned for a later date in the Collegedale SDA Church, where he was a member for 44 years.

 

Memorial gifts may be made to the Don Dick Scholarship Fund at www.southern.edu, Hospice of Chattanooga, or the Alzheimer's Association.
