Business and Management

Enactus students in the School of Business and Management gained skills for future careers as they conducted three initiatives in 2012-2013: GenLink provided student labor for senior citizens who needed assistance; Let’s Can Hunger was a food and money drive; and the Women at the Well project involved offering marketing and business advice to an area nonprofit that helps women with addictions. Southern was one of the regional winners for Enactus Worldwide this year.

Formerly known as Students In Free Enterprise, Enactus is a community of student, academic, and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world. The name represents the combination of three words: “entrepreneurial” (having the perspective to see an opportunity and the talent to create value from that opportunity), “action” (the willingness to do something and the commitment to see it through even when the outcome is not guaranteed) and “us” (a group of people who see themselves connected in some important way).

Enactus is a student service arm of the School of Business and Management, which is launching an online long-term care bachelor’s degree program geared for working adults. The School has also partnered with the School of Social Work to offer their students a new long-term care minor.
