Well, the day finally arrived that I had been dreading, yet excited for my daughter to head off to Southern Adventist University. We packed the car late Saturday night so we would be ready to leave bright and early Sunday morning at 6:00am. It took us about 4 hours to arrive in Collegedale.
It was burning hot there. We were moving all of our daughter's "stuff" into the dorm and then these very nice men came to our car and offered to help move us in. How nice is that? They were people from the We Haul. They were awesome. It made moving in so easy, very few trips and all of her stuff was in her room.
I thought when we arrived we would have to clean the room and prepare it before we moved my daughter in. But, I was wrong, the room was all clean with a new toilet, new tile in the bathroom. That was great! We still cleaned everything to make sure.
Then the refrigerator was moved into the room. The beds were made, and what cute comforters the girls had. The clothes were hung, the drawers were filled with clothes and shoes under the bed.
We had to make a trip to Walmart to finish up the room. It was fun moving her in.
We went to parent orientation, that was long, but very helpful information. That made me more at ease about leaving our daughter there.
We took her out to eat for supper, and then back to the school for a get together for that evening.
We said our goodbyes, so not to cry too much. Then the long drive back home to Fletcher, NC.
We have texted many times and e-mailed often. I try not to call too often and let her independence bloom and blossom. She loves it at SAU and is having a great time. She has an awesome job and loves her job.
It was a great experience overall for her first time to college.
