Smart Start is an awesome way for your student to try out college for free! When Bianca decided to attend Southern Adventist University, then came the decision whether to attend Smart Start. Honestly, I wasn’t very excited about letting her go any sooner than I had to but you can’t pass up free tuition! The opportunity of taking one college course free of tuition made the most sense. So she had a short but very packed summer break.
Since we are from California we flew to Tennessee one week early before Smart Start began and took some family time together vacationing in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. We arrived at Southern Friday morning and got her all registered and settled in the dorm. My compliments to Southern for running such a smooth registration! As we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who showed us where we needed to go and register. Also, they provided “We Haul” which is volunteers available to help unload your car and haul all your things it to the dorm. I thought that was great!
On Sunday, there was parent orientation and what a great team that presented lots of helpful information and instructions to parents bringing their students to college for the first time. I have made great use of this information and all my questions were answered during this orientation.
Smart Start was a great chance for Bianca to get acclimated to college life, get a job, find her way around campus and meet new friends before the whole student body arrived and the busy fall schedule began.
