Story Abstract

Story

As time goes by since I left Bianca at Southern I am missing her more and more. So keeping in touch is what helps me through this stage. It is hard not to overwhelm her with so many questions to get the information that I need (or basically just want). Luckily, a few months before she left to college she set me up with a Facebook account. I hesitated to get into that but now am so glad I did because not only can I view her page and keep up with her I have connected with so many friends and family members as well.

On a daily basis I will text her just to send an inspirational thought, wish her a “Happy Sabbath”, or just ask how she is doing. I figured out that she will communicate better with me via texting than a phone conversation. Kids her age text all day long! Proof is on the cell phone bill. Good thing we have unlimited texting on our plan.

My most favorite method of keeping in touch with Bianca is skyping! This is just like having her there during family events. There have been times when we set up the laptop in the patio while we are having a family swimming party so that her little cousins can talk to her and show Bianca how they swim and play. My parents really enjoy seeing her face so that they know she is doing well. Bianca has learned to take snapshot pictures of our skype sessions and has posted them to Facebook for all to see. I am so glad technology is so advanced so parents like me can communicate with their college students and keep up with their busy lives.
