Story Abstract

Story

Deciding on a major is so hard for some college students. Ever since Bianca was a little girl she dreamed of being a pediatrician. She wanted to travel the world and help children by being a missionary pediatrician. Now that she is actually in college she is undecided about being a medical doctor. The passion for working in pediatric is still there just not sure she could hang in there the many years it takes to be a doctor.

When she announced her indecisiveness on Facebook we were quite surprised. She has never wavered from her dream. Maybe a dose of reality has hit her as she studies and realizes that maybe this path is not for her. Many of her friends and fellow students commented on her Facebook page that they too have changed majors time and time again. This is a difficult time for young people to decide on something that they will do for the rest of their lives. Will they always love it? Will they get bored of doing it day in and day out? I have seen some students at our University take a leave of absence for a year to decide what they want to do. So much pressure at a young age!

She still wants a career in the medical field working in pediatrics. So my advice to her was to talk with a counselor. I also suggested some areas of pediatrics along the lines of nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant. I’m praying that God guide her through this process.
