Story

What a week it's been! Classes have kept me super busy from doing homework to studying for a ton of tests and quizzes. Thankfully, I've managed to keep my head above water instead of drowning. To reward myself for making it through all the tests and quizzes I had, I stopped Thursday night at KR's place for a delicious Heaven In a Cup slushie with Reeses. This is literally one of the best drinks I've ever had. The first time I tried it I said "this really is heaven in a cup" after the first sip. Don't let the word slushie fool you; for this drink it's more of a shake than a slushie. But the bottom line is that everyone should try it-they'll be forever changed.
Lately, I've been taking advantage of my free membership to the Hulsey Wellness Center. I really love this place! There's this awesome clean smell that hits you whenever you first walk into the building. Everytime I go in, the rockclimbing wall is open for anyone who wants to try it. The pool and hot tub are incredible, and the Kayak smoothie shop has the best smoothies hands down! The best part about their smoothies is that they're healthy, made with real fruit, and your choice of water, orange juice, soy milk, or yogurt base. When I think of this I don't feel so guilty about getting one so often! Then there's the awesome treadmills with TV's hooked up to each one. All I have to do is plug in my headphones. If you're short on time, you can come down and watch your favorite TV show while you exercise. It's pretty nice!

Finally, the weekend came, bringing with it some incredible weather. The sun shining, clear blue skies, mid 60-70s degree weather made it absolutely perfect. Saturday night the annual All-Night Softball tournament was held, ending at who know's how early in the morning. A friend of mine's team made it to the semi-finals and got eliminated at 6 a.m. That's intense. By then, I was way already asleep. Sunday brought NFL football and of course, homework! After all, what would a Sunday be if you didn't have that one last paper to write? However, if you don't want to wind up feeling drowned and overwhelmed with 8 hours worth of homework, take advantage of free time on Friday to get at least half of it done. That way you can actually watch the entire football game of your favorite team playing.

Yep, life's been pretty busy for me as well as a lot of other people here at Southern. All the things you have to do, the places you have to be, can pile up and feel so overwhelming. Sometimes you just don't know how you're going to get anything done. I've been there before. Don't give up! Jesus never promised us that life would be just dandy the entire time. There's a lot of rough spots along the way. But He gave us hope. He promised to be there with us every step of the way. He promised He'd give us peace and the power to make it through anything. "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." - John 16:33. When everything looks like dark skies and rain clouds, just remember that He has overcome the world and He freely gives you that same power to overcome.
