Counseling and Testing Services has various resources to help students adjust to university life. Personal and career counseling, consultation, testing, advisement for international students, and referral services are provided in a confidential and caring environment.
Counseling Services. Appointments are free to all currently enrolled students and made through the office manager. Referral services to professionals in the community are also available. Communication between counselors and students is confidential.
Testing Services. The Testing Services staff coordinate and administer testing and assessment programs that include national admission and certification tests, institutional assessment programs, individual diagnostic assessments, and career assessments. Southern is an established non-Saturday National Test Center for the administration of entrance examinations for students applying to graduate and professional programs.
Career Services. Students are invited to discuss career options, self-assessment, interests, goals, resumé preparation, interview techniques, and job seeking skills with a counselor. The Counseling and Testing library contains a wide variety of information on topics such as occupations, job opportunities, graduate schools, and career development.
International Student Services. Services are provided for introducing parents and students to the demands and expectations of living and learning on a university campus. The International Student Advisor is available to help international students navigate the rules and regulations of attending a university in the United States.
