Michael Dant, M.Sc.
Mr. Dant is an embedded computer engineer who is excited about helping students enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of solving real-world problems using computer technology. Through his many years of experience as an embedded engineer, Mr. Dant is able to bring to the classroom true-to-life insights and up-to-date techniques that can help prepare his students for the workplace.
After receiving his master's degree in software engineering from Andrews University, Mr. Dant served as a missionary in Jamaica for six years and then returned to do some further graduate work in the area of artificial intelligence, which explains his interest in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, and machine vision.
But life isn’t all about computers. Mr. Dant loves the Lord and is always looking for new ways to understand and share God’s incredible love for every man, woman, and child on this planet. If you want to have a fun conversation sometime, ask him, "If salvation is a free gift from God and not by works, then why does God require obedience?"
Mr. Dant has been married for more than 25 years and has two teenage sons, one of which is currently attending Southern in the area of—you guessed it—computer science. His other interests include exercising on the Biology Trail, insect photography, writing, preaching, and travelling.
