Mark Peach received a B.A. from Walla Walla College in 1980 with a double major in History and German, spending his sophomore year at Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen in Austria. He received a master's degree in 1982 from Washington State University. With the aid of a Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst grant, he spent the 1989-90 year in Munich, Germany, completing research for his doctoral dissertation (dealing with German modern architecture), receiving his Ph.D. degree in modern intellectual history in December 1992from the University of Chicago.

"A considerable amount of my teaching effort is devoted to World Civilizations. Though it is an intimidating task, I enjoy the challenge of organizing large amounts of material into a meaningful structure." Arts and Ideas and Classics of Western Thought are also favorite courses due to their unusual combination of intellectual and social history.

Peach is a member of the American Historical Association (AHA), the German Studies Association, and the Society of Architectural Historians. He has published articles in the German Studies Review and the Journal of Utopian Studies and book reviews in the Journal of Social History, Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, and the German Studies Review, as well as the AHA online project H-German.

After having spent the 1996-97 year in Berlin on a Fulbright Research Grant, Peach is occupying his free time working on a book project tentatively titled "Brave New World: the Social Vision of German Modern Architects."

In 2008-2009, Peach was appointed program director of Southern Scholars, Southern Adventist University's honors program.
