Computer and Network Acceptable Use

Academic Priority

The computer equipment and network in McKee Library support the research, learning, and teaching activities of current Southern Adventist University students, faculty, and staff. McKee Library is also committed to serving the research needs of the general public and other affiliated McKee Library community users that cannot be served by area public libraries. However, the library reserves the right to give priority to current Southern Adventist University students, faculty, and staff, through restricting the number of computers available for public computing, setting limits on the time that the general public may use computing equipment, and limiting what content may be accessed on public-use computers.

Acceptable Use Policy

Conduct which violates the Acceptable Use Policy includes, but is not limited to:

  • Conduct that violates policies stated in the Southern Adventist University Information Technology office Acceptable Use Policy
  • Starting the computer from an external device, such as an external hard drive or USB drive
  • Installing applications or modifying the configuration of the computer, its applications, and/or operating system

Kiosk computers support library research for Southern Adventist University students, faculty, and staff members. Web browsers on these computers may only access a specific range of library-approved websites, and there are restrictions on what applications may be run.

Accessing websites on these computers other than those approved by the library is a violation of the library’s Acceptable Use Policy.

Violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in loss of computing privileges and/or removal from the library.
