Apply to lead a SOAP trip this coming fall semester.

We are always looking for new SOAP trip ideas and people to lead others out into nature.

If you are interested in becoming a SOAP leader, click Apply Now to fill out a SOAP Leader Application and tell us your trip ideas.

Don't worry, you don't have to be an outdoor leadership major to apply!

If you don't have a new trip you would like to lead but are interested in leading one of our "staple" trips, let us know.

 Conrad Reichert
Conrad is a second year Grad Assistant who has a passion for sharing God’s Great Outdoors with others. He finds cave exploration to be very rewarding, especially when hearing previously nervous cavers say they are excited to go again.

Mike Harris
He is a recent graduate from Southern’s masters program. He is currently the Programming Director of Outdoor Leadership and hopes to introduce students to their Creator through nature, while helping them become better leader.

 Benji Castellanos

Los Angeles, California
Ben has been an outdoor leader for the past 6 years. He has experience as a primitive camp director, climbing guide, and backcountry-trip leader. His passion is technology based outdoor applications and youth ministry in an outdoor setting. He also enjoys spending a significant amount of time exploring caves.

Ryan Kloosterhuis
Ryan has been known to dabble in many outdoor ac- tivities including rock climbing, mountain biking, backpacking, ice climbing and many more, but particularly traditional rock climbing. He loves going on expeditions with friends, and ones soon to be, for such activities and for the experience. Recently, He was a member of a team that went on an expedition to Death Valley, CA which was sponsored by BMW to drive their bikes across the desert to make a promotional video.

 Brad Newmyer

Brad is a recent Outdoor Leadership graduate. He enjoys taking people outdoors and giving them the chance to do some- thing new and push their limits as well as his. If you can’t find him at the Gear shed, more than likely he is rock climbing, mountain biking, backpacking, snowboarding or water-skiing.

Tyler Newmyer
Tyler is a first year Grad As- sistant. His passion is leading trips and interacting with people in the outdoors. He enjoys sharing the love and knowledge of the outdoors with others. His experience includes leading trips in backpacking, kayaking, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

 Marty Miller
Collegedale, Tennessee
Marty serves as the outdoor leadership coordinator here at Southern. His favorite outdoor pursuits include canoeing, backpacking, mountaineering, and photography. Over the years, Marty has enjoyed sharing his love of creation and the Creator with countless students and friends.
