The first of a series of articles using Mathematica to analyze puzzles, authored by Dr. Caviness, has just been published.

Story

Dr. Caviness has been invited to author a series of articles for The Mathematica Journal. Each article in the series will be devoted to analyzing a logic puzzle - using Mathematica, of course. The first one has now been published (January 20, 2011 edition) and made it onto the first page! In the article Caviness analyzes the “Free the Key”  puzzle (illustrated above) by constructing an equivalent maze and then discussing solutions for the maze.
