Julie Penner has served as director of Vocal Studies at Southern Adventist University School of Music since 1993. She teaches Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Singer’s Diction and Vocal Ensemble Experience as well as a weekly Vocal Performance class.
Dr. Penner received a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Education from the University of Idaho. She went on to study Vocal Performance and Literature at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where she studied with John Maloy. She earned her doctorate in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, where she studied voice with Lesley Manring and vocal pedagogy with Charmain Coppom.
Dr. Penner has performed extensively as a soloist, with appearances throughout the world. Her passion for music and her joy in sharing it with others are readily apparent both in the classroom and on stage.
