Carlos Martin has been with the School of Religion since 2002. Before coming to Southern, he served in the Northern Asia-Pacific Division as Ministerial Association secretary, global mission director, health ministries director, and Adventist Global Communication Network director. While in Asia, he also taught classes at the graduate level in 13 colleges of the Southern and Northern Asia-Pacific Divisions.
He has served at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies, a General Conference institution located in the Philippines, as assistant seminary dean, chair of the Department of Applied Theology, director of the Doctor of Ministry program, and professor of missions.
He served as a church pastor for nearly 20 years in the South American, Inter-American, and North American Divisions. Pastor Martin organized 11 churches, and during his 35 years of ministry, he has baptized more than 4,000 people. He has offered training, taught, or conducted major evangelistic efforts in Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Venezuela, and the United States.
His wife, Nolly, is a teacher. Their son, Christian, is an ordained pastor, and their daughter Melissa is a school counselor.
Dr. Martin has written 12 textbooks on missions and evangelism. He also authored the adult Sabbath School third quarter of 2000 on the Book of Acts, entitled Turning the World Upside Down, published by Pacific Press.
