International students are required to purchase the UnitedHealthcare insurance policy, unless they show proof of a comparable travel plan. The school's insurance policy is an accident and sickness policy designed for students and offered at a lower cost than most traditional policies.
This UnitedHealthcare policy automatically comes with a global assistance plan called Scholastic Emergency Services (SES). International students studying at a U.S. institution are eligible for SES, both on campus and while traveling in a country that is not their country of origin.
Accessing SES is as easy as making a single phone call to the Operations Center for help at any time. The call will be answered by one of SES' medically certified crisis managers, who can put in motion a vast number of emergency resources. The SES number is on the back of the UnitedHealthcare insurance ID card.
