Making the Most of Spring Exercise
For many, spring means that it is finally time to get outside and again see the sun after the long and cold winter months. Alongside this comes the many opportunities to get creative and efficient with exercise. We often tend to think of exercise as something to be done in a gym or run on a monotonous trail of concrete that goes just around nowhere.
Southern has the unique environment of not only being suburban, but also quite natural in landscape. This gives great potential for students to enjoy stair-running, hill sprints, jogs on the Greenway (our scenic paved walkway), and of course hikes through the biology trails. These are easy and stress-free replacements to working out in the gym.
Keeping well and healthy is not all about building muscle, or being able to run faster and farther, but instead about keeping your body in a state of constant movement, good nutrition, and spiritual activity. Nothing sounds more in line with those three key aspects than enjoying a walk on the bio trails on a sunny spring day with an apple in hand.
An activity as simple as that is all the workout a body can ask for when it comes to staying healthy and active. It does not have to end there, though; this spring time can also afford frisbee, football, or anything that gets you in the sun, gets you out in the Lord’s nature, and gets you moving. After all, the most important thing to staying healthy in all seasons of the year is that you do activity that you enjoy and that you keep it fresh.
