The Advancement Office at Southern is currently offering schools and departments on campus a limited number of microgrants, worth up to $500 each. These grants will be awarded to support faculty/staff in transforming their student-focused events or programs into activities with significant potential for also engaging alumni and other external audiences (prospective students, churches, local businesses, broader Chattanooga community, etc).

Grant selection prioritizes the following criteria:

• Will event be marketed to a non-student audience as well?
• Does event make use of interdepartmental collaborations?
• Can event be streamed live online (to engage alumni/prospects outside the Chattanooga area)?
• Has event been planned far enough in advance to utilize Alumni Relations/Marketing assistance?
• Does event show departmental investment?

Advancement is excited to launch this trial run of microgrants. Together we can work smarter, not harder, and increase engagement with constituent audiences.

For questions about the Advancement Office microgrants, or examples of previous collaborations at Southern that model similar goals, please contact Lucas Patterson (x2781).
