HENRY KUHLMAN, PHD

Professor Kuhlman completed his BA in physics at Andrews University. He received his master’s degree at Western Michigan University and went on to Purdue University to earn his PhD in Low Energy Nuclear Physics.

Since 1968, Professor Kuhlman has been a part of the Physics and Engineering faculty. He devotes a great deal of time to the mechanical and electrical aspects of Hickman Science Center and of the Foucault pendulum. He designed the beautiful sundial that graces the campus mall facing University Drive.

Professor Kuhlman is now faculty emeritus, but his teaching schedule usually includes Astronomy and one of Engineering Mechanics courses.

The Kuhlman children are all involved in the professional world. His son, Steven Kuhlman, is also a faculty member of the Physics and Engineering Department at Southern.
