Puerto Jimenez

Puerto Jiménez is a coastal town of approximately 3,000 inhabitants located on the eastern side of the Osa Peninsula. It is the largest town in the region and serves as the primary gateway for travelers heading to Corcovado National Park.

Corcovado National Park: Most visitors use Puerto Jiménez to access the park's Sirena Ranger Station by boat (approx. 1 hour) or the La Leona and Los Patos stations via land. All entries require a licensed guide.

Although this is the largest town in the region, it remains quite small. You can easily bike from one end of town to the other in just five minutes. It’s a pleasant place to spend a few days, enjoying the bay, kayaking, and watching both the sunsets and sunrises. While it tends to rain every afternoon, you can also enjoy watching flights arriving throughout the day, bringing visitors to the nearby national park. Overall, it’s a great place to relax, with very friendly people. Scarlet macaws and toucans are everywhere; they will literally wake you up in the morning. They are like the pigeons of this area, often seen in flocks flying overhead. It’s a magnificent place for casual birdwatching strolls in the mornings and evenings, creating a very relaxed atmosphere.
