Los Patos Trail
The trail from Sirena to Los Patos is regarded as the most challenging route in Corcovado National Park due to its demanding physical requirements and its journey through the heart of the primary rainforest. The trail is approximately 21 to 24 kilometers (13 to 15 miles) one way, with some reports indicating it is closer to 13.1 miles (21.1 kilometers). During our hike in the dry season, we encountered at least 9 miles of mud that was 6 inches deep or more. It was an incredible experience traversing the Costa Rican jungle, fording rivers, and immersing ourselves in the tropical rainforest.
