Playa Cocalito

Playa Cocalito near Drake Bay is a secluded and tranquil beach located on the Osa Peninsula, highly regarded for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. It's a short, golden-sand beach that feels private, despite its proximity to the main town of Agujitas.

The beach is often deserted, making it an ideal spot for those seeking quiet relax.  The waters can be calm, suitable for swimming and even spotting marine life offshore when conditions are right. The surrounding rainforest is rich in biodiversity. Visitors frequently spot wildlife such as howler, white-faced, and spider monkeys, as well as colorful scarlet macaws in the trees lining the shore. There is no development directly at the beach (no public restrooms, shops, or restaurants), so visitors must bring all necessary supplies, including water and snacks.

It is an approximate 30-45 minute (1.2-kilometer) walk from the trailhead at the western end of Playa Colorada (the main beach in Agujitas). The hike involves crossing a fun, albeit wobbly, suspension bridge over the Agujitas River and walking through lush forest and past a few lodges.
