Smart
Start

Southern offers a free 3-credit-hour class in the summer for undergraduates enrolling for the first time. Just pay for books, food, and rent, and the tuition is on us. But it’s not all about the money (although saving more than $1,750 is pretty sweet). SmartStart is a great opportunity to learn your way around campus, make some early friendships, and get accustomed to the independence and responsibility that university life is all about. Southern Academics

Academic Majors

Nursing and business may be the two most popular majors on campus, but there are endless possibilities, including new programs such as vegetarian culinary arts and global policy and service! If you feel God pulling you toward a specific career, there’s a strong probability that Southern offers the courses necessary to help get you started down that path.

Study Abroad

By studying in a foreign country you can earn college credit while gaining a global perspective (and, we suspect, a ton of great memories). Students who choose this option are often pursuing a major or minor in a modern language, but that’s not a requirement. Choose from 10 different countries and immerse yourself in the culture while continuing your education.

Our Professors

Southern’s faculty inspires students each day through their expert research in a variety of fields: DNA testing on ancient plants, computer chip innovations, and the life and writings of C.S. Lewis, just to name a few. The professors are more than simply teachers; they’re mentors and spiritual leaders as well. Call them smart. Call them cutting-edge. And before long, you’ll likely grow to call them friends.

Since programs at other institutions vary widely, we will need to work with you to confirm which credits transfer to help ensure your academic success in our programs. View Requirements

International students are a rich part of campus life at Southern. Those applying from outside the Unites States have their academic preparation, finances, and English proficiency reviewed by the university’s Admissions Committee. The extra work involved makes the deadlines and other details even more important. We appreciate all you do to come be a part of Southern! View Requirements

Homeschool programs vary widely, requiring a few extra steps to ensure the admissions standards are applied evenly as students join the Southern family. In addition to meeting the general requirements, homeschool students need to submit an academic portfolio and be at least 17 years old to live in a residence hall. View Requirements
