Judge Kevin B. Wilson Pre-Law Endowed Scholarship
Judge Kevin B. Wilson '78 established this endowment to support students preparing
for careers in law. The scholarship reflects Judge Wilson's formative experiences
at Southern Adventist University, where early encouragement set him on the path to
the legal profession, and honors his decades of service as an attorney, educator,
and Collegedale City Judge. The endowment is created in honor of his parents, Bill
and Beverly Wilson, whose steadfast support and commitment to education made his journey
possible. Through this scholarship, Judge Wilson sought to encourage future generations
of students pursuing meaningful, service-oriented legal careers.
Judge Wilson was a highly respected member of the Collegedale community and a devoted
public servant. In 1990, he was elected as Collegedale City Court Judge--the first
year the position became an elected office. He was re-elected four times and faithfully
served the city until his passing.
Beyond his service to Collegedale, Judge Wilson was actively involved in the Chattanooga
Bar Association, the Tennessee Municipal Judges Conference, the Tennessee General
Sessions Judges Conference, and ACA International. He also served on the Board of
the Collegedale Tomorrow Foundation.
Deeply committed to civic engagement and education, Judge Wilson regularly spoke to
the local school groups, judged high school mock trial competitions, and participated
in class functions at Southern Adventist University's School of Business. His involvement
included serving as a judge for the Business Law class Moot Court event.
By supporting students who feel called toward the legal profession, the scholarship
carries forward the Wilson family's legacy of guidance, service, and belief in the
potential of Southern students.
