Programs and Language Emphases

  • The Modern Languages Department at Southern Adventist University offers a complete series of courses leading to bachelor's degrees in French and Spanish and provides necessary preparation for graduate study.
  • Interdisciplinary programs that lead to teaching certification in French and Spanish are available for students interested in teaching on the secondary level.
  • Bachelor's degrees in international studies with an emphasis in French, German, Italian, or Spanish enhance the student's ability to live and work in an international setting.
  • Students who major within the department and study abroad will earn a special sash upon graduation. (Minors are not eligible)
  • Minors in Arabic, French, German, Italian, and Spanish give students a deeper understanding of the language and literature of various societies within a global context.
  • Courses in American Sign Language introduce students to deaf culture and provide an opportunity for service in the deaf community.
