Henry Kuhlman Mechanical Engineering Lab

The Henry Kuhlman Mechanical Engineering Lab supports courses in the mechanical engineering area. Equipment in this lab allows students to analyze properties of various materials and explore thermal processes and fluid behavior.

Thermal and fluid lab equipment includes a fluid closed-flow test stand, a 125 mph wind tunnel, a heat-exchange apparatus, viscosity measurement device, parallel/series pumps, a refridgeration cycle test stand, and a steam turbine power plant.

Materials lab equipment includes a furnace, polishing machine, Rockwell hardness tester, microscope, impact tester, and universal testing machine.

This space is also what we call hybrid, which means that half the room is dedicated to the lab equipment, and the other side is a dedicated classroom space. Having the room set up this way also for professors and students to easily jump back and forth between lecture and lab work.
