Description
This location provides lifestyle education for the people of Jordan. The location will be a language, music, and health center--providing the community with the tools to be successful and live a holistic life. The center will plant the bases for the language center where English, Spanish and Arabic will be taught using volunteers to teach. It will implement the 21st-century education where the students can continue learning using the online tools available anywhere. The courses will last 3 to 4 months, and then the next level will be avaible. In this manner, a rotation of students will constantly be starting at the begginer level and moving upward.  Also, soccer classes will be taught for children and teenagers. Volleyball, music, and cooking classes may also be taught.  In three years, the center must be a well-known for the excellence of its service, making the center self-sustaining. Beside the center having people from the community, the school is a very good resource for families attending the activities

  • Timeline: Contracts are given on a school year basis, but volunteers are welcome to continue through the summer as well. Teachers arrive each year the 3rd week in August for two weeks of training on a variety of topics. Classes start the first week of September and usually continue until the first week of June. There is generally a three-week Christmas break and several shorter breaks throughout the year.
  • Living Accommodations: The volunteers will be accommodated in a shared apartment of three rooms, each with its own shower and bathroom. Electrical current is 220, the apartment is fully furnished, and also has kitchen supplies. 
  • Language: Jordan is a Muslim country where the first language is Arabic. But, you can manage yourself speaking English in the mayor cities.
  • Food: Food is not provided for the volunteers. Although a stipend will be given for daily supplies. (200 JD monthly)
  • Internet Access: The center has Wi-Fi available for teaching and use while in the school building. It is relatively cheap to purchase a phone card with internet data and also to install internet wherever you choose to live. 
  • Requirements: Visa applied for on arrival
Position Info
  • English Teacher - teach English to children, teenagers, young people and adults. Any other area of interest in teaching can be used, developed to increase the center in the services to offer to the community.
